"Owls in the Family" Novel Study

"Owls in the Family" by Farley Mowat is a funny, heart-warming story about a boy and his pet owls, Wol and Weeps.

In the years that I have been teaching grade four, this has been a "must-read" in my classroom. Students beg to keep reading and love the fact that the story is based on Farley Mowat's childhood experiences. "Owls in the Family" is an ideal novel for a class novel study, as it engages readers of all ability levels.

The link below will lead you to a complete, 32-page literature unit ready for classroom use. It includes end-of-chapter comprehension questions as well as a variety of graphic organizers intended to engage students while completing valuable reading and writing activities.
